Our Adoption Philosophy

At ARCH, our priority is finding each animal a safe, loving, and stable home for life.

 

Many rescue animals have already experienced disruption and uncertainty. We therefore take great care to ensure every adoption is a thoughtful and lasting match, not just for today, but for the many years ahead.

 

Many cats and dogs can live 15–20 years or more, and adopting a companion animal is a long-term commitment emotionally, physically, and financially. We encourage all adopters to carefully consider future plans, lifestyle changes, housing stability, work commitments, travel, family circumstances, and ongoing veterinary costs before applying.

 

We also ask adopters to think about who would be able to care for their pet should unexpected circumstances arise in the future. Having a trusted family member, friend, or support network willing to assist or assume care if needed helps ensure lifelong security and stability for the animal.

 

Our goal is to place every animal in a home where they will be cared for and supported for the entirety of their life.Our adoption process is focused on the individual needs of each animal.

 

Once we know an animal’s personality, behaviour, and comfort levels, we will work to place them in the environment where they are most likely to thrive.

 

This may mean that some animals are best suited to:

• homes without young children

• homes without other pets

• homes with another confident companion animal

• quieter households

• experienced owners

• particular home environments or routines

These decisions are never personal judgments about applicants. They are made solely in the best interests of the animal and based on what we believe will give them the safest, happiest, and most secure future.We understand that not every animal will be the right fit for every home, and we appreciate the understanding and compassion of our adopters throughout the process.
